Newspaper article about the fire in Lutz and the speed humps!  McCarthy wants to make speed bumps more visible—I’m sure that will help fire truck response time!!!!!

December 12, 2007 Lutz Fire

To fight this fire, the fire department had to cross the 8 speed humps. Neighbors watched the fire in disbelief at the time it took for the distant sirens to arrive.  (80 seconds delay for speed humps only!!)  They could hear the sirens all the way for the less than 5 mile trip.  I hope no one has a heart attack out here!

Lutz NTC Final Report

This is the final report.  Please look at the citizens comments.  Most were against speed humps, yet the county moved forward anyhow!

Final Engineering Document - “SPEED CUSHIONS”

This is the signed drawing for “Speed Cushions” from Mike McCarthy who drew this engineering drawing up 7months after the county approved them!  These speed humps were installed 3 times because they kept screwing them up. And still they are more severe than the county described in the public hearings.
